Verona is a Natural Shopping Centre, a real open-air commercial gallery, with many shops and activities, placed in a historical context of great importance. The streets of the city centre are characterised by old shops, large stores selling the most important clothing brands, souvenir shops and typical taverns.
Via Mazzini, that since it was opened under the rule of the noble Visconti family connected Piazza delle Erbe with Piazza Bra, is the main shopping street. It was called “Via Nuova” until 1907, when it was dedicated to Giuseppe Mazzini. The shops of the historic centre are usually open all day, Monday to Saturday, and very often on Sundays, but it is not a rule.
