In Garda, the lakeside village, August 15 is Palio delle Contrade day.
For about 50 years on Assumption Day the Palio, the most significant festival of this ancient fishing community, has been held.
At the crack of dawn the gondolas of Garda's nine contrade take to the water, vying for the city's supremacy by oar strokes.
On the day of the Palio, an entertainment program enlivens the village throughout the day, with family activities, typical products and live music.
At the end of the regatta, the Luci Riflesse fireworks display will take place on the lake.
