WHAT TO DO IN AUTUMN AT LAKE GARDA

If you are convinced that autumn is an in-between season and not to be experienced to the full, rest assured we will change your mind! Everyone thinks it's all about gloomy days, clouds and raging winds, but autumn is actually an explosion of colours and flavours.

Autumn is the perfect season: the temperatures finally become cooler, the trees are dressed in new colours and it is finally livable again to take walks in the fresh air.

Many people think that the only time for a holiday on the lake is during the warm season and, for this reason, many snub the low season. Are you ready to change your mind?

Here is a list of ideas of things to do on Lake Garda in autumn:

1. PHOTOGRAPH FOLIAGE IN ONE OF THE GARDA PARKS

Foliage is the natural autumn phenomenon that gives rise to the colours of autumn: trees and shrubs turn from green to green, turning yellow, orange, red, purple and brown.

Where to photograph this unique event? Undoubtedly in the parks and gardens that populate the shores of Lake Garda: the Heller Garden in Gardone, the Vittoriale Park and the Sigurtà Park are just a few examples.

But don't stop there, go into the valleys of vineyards and capture the warm colours that only autumn can offer!

2. TREKKING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING

Say 'bye-bye' to the exhausting heat of summer and welcome the cool temperatures of autumn! Finally it's time to breathe again, and what could be better than spending time outdoors when the temperature allows it?

Lake Garda offers so many itineraries for both trekking and mountain biking that you'll find it hard to choose!

3. SOAK IN THE WARM WATERS OF THE THERMAL BATHS

After a day of sport, what could be better than a moment of sweet idleness? Treat yourself to a relaxing day or afternoon: Garda has a great reputation for its thermal waters.

Take a regenerating dip in the pools with the pleasant temperature of 37° when it is cool outside. We are sure you will come out of it reborn!

4. TOAST WITH GARDA WINES

Autumn is the wine season par excellence, and Lake Garda certainly doesn't miss it. Some of the most appreciated wines in the world are produced here: Custoza, Valpolicella, Lugana and Recioto are just a few.

Take a cellar tour and stroll through the vineyards to learn about and appreciate the area's best wines. You will discover the history and secrets behind the production of your favourite wine!

5. DISCOVER THE FIRST FRUITS OF AUTUMN

Autumn brings many exquisite first fruits with which to prepare mouth-watering dishes. Festivals are organised to celebrate the typical products of the area: chestnuts from the fields of Riva and Drena, chestnuts from San Zeno di montagna, pumpkins from the morainic hills useful for preparing the famous tortelli.

But that's not all: from November onwards, on the terraces around the lake, the olives are harvested and the green gold is pressed. And what could be better than a tasting accompanied by good fresh bread and local cheeses?

These are just a few examples of activities to do during the autumn season. Now it is up to you to take your cue and indulge yourself: autumn on Lake Garda is waiting for you!
