The main location of the Festival will be the Lido Mirabello in Bardolino.
The first edition of "Bardolino Film Festival - Images, sounds and words on the water" will be held from 16 to 20 June 2021, at the enchanting and well-known location on the shore of Lake Garda. The historic event has been rethought
The event is organized and supported by the Municipality of Bardolino, with the artistic direction of Franco Dassisti. The Municipal Administration has entrusted him with the task of rethinking Words on the water - the historic event that in eleven years brought dozens of writers and journalists to Bardolino - with the desire to build a multipurpose festival, attentive to the multiple aspects of art and culture, but with cinema at the center.
Thus was born Bardolino Film Festival, which in its subtitle "Images, sounds and words on water" testifies to all its bond with this land and the continuity with that experience.
Want to start over
The fil-rouge that will characterize this first edition is “Re-Start - Re-Departure”. Through the films and the meetings we will talk about the desire to start over, to overcome the past, to change life, especially in a moment like this, marked by the pandemic that has shocked the world. The program includes two international competitions, one for short films and one for documentaries. To enrich the proposal, a section dedicated to books and five soirées by the lake with the feature films that best framed the theme of the Re-Departure and with the presence of some special guests, who will arrive at Lido Mirabello to meet the public, through the adjacent landing place transformed into a "blue carpet", the color-symbol of the festival, to recall the sky and the water of Lake Garda. There will also be meetings in the late morning with authors, directors and writers, in the premises of the lakefront.
The program will be curated by the artistic director Franco Dassisti together with Boris Sollazzo, his partner in this adventure as a selector, and former regular collaborator of La rosa Purpurea, the Radio24 cinema program conducted by Dassisti.
