Wine

Those who like to spend their holidays exploring the culinary pleasures of a region and their fine wines, have come to the right place! Lake Garda, Verona and it soils are part of the grape and wine producing heritage of Italy and over the years have become ever more recognised for their D.O.C. and D.O.C.G. certified wines. The hinterland is home to white wine and some very famous red wines, like Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone, to name but a few.  The most southerly shore of the lake produces the white wines of Lugana and Custoza, perfect for the fish dishes of the Lake. Bardolino, on the other hand, is the town that gave its name to the ‘young’ wines, the Bardolino and the Chiaretto. Every year, the first weekend of October sees the return of the Grape and Wine Festival, an event that represents perfection in wine making and the bond of the local population with the wine production of the Garda Veneto area. While in Verona, Vinitaly takes place (www.vinitaly.com), a wine fare of international acclaim. Then, why not loose yourself in the many wine trails of the region, that promote unique wine tasting experiences in the various vineyards along the route. A glass of wine, a sunset by the lake and a holiday enriched by unforgettable aromas and flavours.
